The voice of language: Monitoring the implementation of the Serbian language in local institutions



The project aims to enhance the rights of non-majority communities to use their mother tongue in institutions, emphasizing equality and social inclusion while raising public awareness of their rights.

The project aims to enhance the rights of non-majority communities to use their mother tongue in institutions, emphasizing equality and social inclusion while raising public awareness of their rights. These objectives will be achieved through needs assessments, education, and public awareness initiatives, as well as the formulation of recommendations for improving existing policies and practices.

Main Activities:

  1. Interviews, surveys, and focus groups
  2. Data analysis
  3. Social media campaigns on language rights
  4. Final conference

Expected Results:

  • Improved Services: Citizens from non-majority communities will gain access to more efficient and tailored services in institutions.
  • Support for Sustaining Rights: Project outcomes will provide institutions with guidelines and recommendations for better implementation of the Law on Language Use, reducing the risk of discrimination.
  • Strengthened Social Cohesion: The broader public will gain insight into the importance of equality in language rights through campaigns and the final conference.
