The “Canvas of Culture in Northern Kosovo” project seeks to foster cultural understanding and cooperation among diverse communities in northern Kosovo, including Kosovo Serbs, Kosovo Albanians, Bosniaks, Roma, and others. In a region where cultural interactions are limited, this project provides much-needed platforms for engagement, expression, and interethnic dialogue.

Activities

  1. Perception Research: To assess the current level of cultural understanding among youth in northern Kosovo.
  2. Theatre Plays: To address cultural and societal issues, aimed at promoting cultural dialogue and community engagement.
  3. Support for at least two initiatives led by mixed groups of young people, encouraging them to take cultural actions within their communities.
  4. Artistic Night Out featuring local musicians and bands, showcasing diverse musical styles and providing youth with alternative cultural experiences.
  5. Workshops for Young Artists on literature and writing to help young artists develop skills and collaborate.
  6. Social Media Campaign -  including Op-Eds and social media posts to raise cultural awareness and encourage intercultural cooperation.
  7. Painting Exhibition highlighting local artists and celebrating the cultural heritage of Kosovo.

Expected Outcomes

  • Enhanced intercultural understanding and cooperation among youth.
  • Increased community participation in cultural events.
  • Empowerment of young people to initiate cultural actions in their communities.
  • Greater visibility of local artists and the cultural heritage of Kosovo.

The project is funded by The Swiss Cooperation Program and will run for nine months, from November 1, 2024, to July 31, 2025.
