Capacity building for monitoring municipalities public finances

NGO Advocacy Center for Democratic Culture (ACDC) is implementing the project "Capacity building for monitoring municipalities public finances". This project is supported by Balkan Monitoring Public Finances.

 

NGO ACDC will implement activities that will improve the transparency of public finances at the local level, in four municipalities in northern Kosovo, through training of municipal officials and representatives, as well as training of representatives of CSOs and media. Also, this project will raise awareness and knowledge of citizens on public finances at the local level and motivate them to get involved in the process of planning, drafting and adopting municipal budgets that will reflect the needs of citizens.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

The overall goal of the project is to improve the planning and management of public finances at the local level in the north of Kosovo.

Specific objectives:

1. Empower CSOs and the media to monitor, report and advocate transparency of public finances at the local level.

2. Empower representatives of local self-governments to improve planning and management of public finances at the local level.

3. Increase citizens' awareness and knowledge of public finances at the local level

EXPECTED RESULTS

At least 8 CSOs and 2 media from the north of Kosovo are trained to monitor public finances at the local level.

The transparency of public finances has been enhanced in all four municipalities in northern Kosovo through the training of municipal officials. At least 12 municipal officials will go through the training program, after which they will apply the acquired knowledge in their work.

Public awareness of public finances has been increased through a public campaign. At least 10,000 people will be exposed to a media campaign through media appearances.

The project started on January 1, and will last 6 months
