Increasing awareness and participation of citizens in the judicial system

The project implemented by the NGO Advocacy Center for Democratic Culture/ ACDC and supported by USAID/ATRC and its implemenation will last from 24 October 2014 until 30 April 2015.

The overall objective of the project is to increase awareness and participation of citizens in the judicial system of North Kosovo, through a program that includes cooperation of all stakeholders.

Specific objectives of the project are: 1) Monitoring of the work of the Municipal Court in Mitrovica; 2) Strengthening the participation of citizens in the judicial system; 3) Increasing awareness of the importance of participation in the judicial system.

The project includes the following activities:

1)   Monitoring of the work of the Municipal Court in Mitrovica, drafting reports related to work performace of the court, with appropriate recommendations for its improvement;
2)   Study visit to the court for young lawyers and civil society activists in North Kosovo;
3)   Meetings with judges, prosecutors and administrative staff of judicial institutions in the Mitrovica region;
4)   Public discussions on topics related to the rule of law;
5)   Promotional activities, which include presentation in media.
