The overall goal of the project is to raise awareness about the risks of disasters, climate change and promote social cohesion among community members to ensure long-term results and improve the impact on the decision-making process.

The overall goal of the project is to raise awareness about the risks of disasters, climate change and promote social cohesion among community members to ensure long-term results and improve the impact on the decision-making process.

The specific goals are:

  1. Development of a local strategy for flood prevention and adequate response in given situations
  2. Strengthening social cohesion and involving citizens in decision-making processes

This will be accomplished through a number of specifically planned activities involving all important local stakeholders.

Activities:

  • Establish a team to raise awareness about reducing the risk of natural disasters at the local level
  • Organize 4 focus groups for the team working to reduce the risk of natural disasters
  • Organize capacity development workshops
  • Development and implementation of a public campaign
  • Organize meetings with representatives of local institutions
  • Development of a local plan for reducing the risk of natural disasters
