Objectives:
Increased translation/interpretation capacity of the Basic Court of Mitrovicë/Mitrovica
Increased capacity of the Court to reduce the backlog of cases through the assistance of legal associates
Increased number of young lawyers from the non-majority communities trained to take the Bar Examination in Kosovo.
Increased capacities of the Kosovo Free Legal Aid Agency Office in North Mitrovica
Support for the integration of non-majority individuals into the legal practice and profession in Kosovo.
Activities:
Hiring translators and legal associates at the Basic Court to address the ongoing need for translation and case management.
Organize training sessions for young lawyers from non-majority communities to prepare them for the Bar Examination in Kosovo
Hiring legal associates to provide free legal aid at the Kosovo Free Legal Aid Agency Office in North Mitrovica.
Host a conference with the Kosovo Bar Association and the Kosovo Judicial Academy in Pristina, focusing on integrating non-majority candidates into the law practice in Kosovo.
Funding: The project is funded by UNMIK and implemented by the NGO Advocacy Center for Democratic Culture (ACDC).
