In the last three years, the increasing ethnicization of the Kosovo Police has become visible on social networks, particularly on the TikTok platform.

Members of the Kosovo Police often post content featuring Albanian nationalist symbolism and music, which contradicts the constitutional principles of multiethnicity and civil society. Analysis has determined that this behavior breaches at least 13 articles of the disciplinary code, as well as the Constitution of Kosovo itself.

Research has revealed over 14,000 posts related to the Kosovo Police on TikTok, with tens of millions of views. The content often includes heavily armed police units accompanied by Albanian nationalist music, symbolism, and gestures that promote ethnic divisions and antagonism towards the Serbian community.

Despite these clear violations of ethical and legal norms, the Kosovo Police Inspectorate and international missions such as EULEX have not responded. The absence of sanctions encourages the continuation of such practices and further undermines the foundations of a multiethnic society.

The research is available in Serbian and English at the links below:

The research on the ethnicization of the Kosovo Police was jointly published by the following non-governmental organizations: New Social Initiative (NSI), Center for Affirmative Social Action (CASA), Institute for Territorial Economic Development (InTER), Aktiv, and Advocacy Center for Democratic Culture (ACDC).
