NGO AKTIV and NGO ACDC in North Mitrovica are pleased to announce the continuation of their joint project Enhancing Transparency and Rule of Law in Kosovo-Serb Majority Communities, financed by the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).
The project is divided into two components: 1) Anti-Corruption and citizens’ participation in decision making processes in Kosovo-Serb majority municipalities and support to the administration of justice in Kosovo-Serb majority areas. The overriding objective of the project is to enhance the depth and quality of the participation of citizens’ participation in decision-making processes through a series of actions geared at the establishment of sustainable mechanisms that will enable project stakeholders to monitor the work of local institutions. In the first year of project implementation (2020-2021) AKTIV and ACDC conducted in-depth research into citizens’ perceptions of corruption, held a series of trainings and workshops for young lawyers and members of local judicial institutions, supported small initiatives launched by civil-society organizations geared at raising awareness of transparency and corruption at the local level, and held numerous public discussions, conferences, and seminars.
AKTIV and ACDC will continue close work with their civil society partners, judicial authorities, and the Kosovo Anti-Corruption Agency to build on the important momentum that was achieved during the first phase of project implementation. This will involve the launching of new initiatives, as well as an expansion and deepening of their cooperation and coordination with stakeholders and beneficiaries.
AKTIV and ACDC are grateful to INL for recognizing the innovative nature of their joint project, and very much look forward to another year of fruitful cooperation!
