Protecting the Ibar River: World Water Day Activity in Mitrovica

As part of marking World Water Day, on March 24, 2026, NGO ACDC organized an activity dedicated to the protection of the Ibar River in Mitrovica.

The program began with an outdoor lecture and an interactive discussion with youth, focusing on the importance of water conservation and the environmental challenges faced by the Ibar River. This was followed by a riverbank clean-up action carried out below the main bridge in Mitrovica.

The Ibar River, one of the region’s key natural resources, continues to face serious challenges such as pollution and inadequate waste management. These issues highlight the need to raise awareness and encourage collective action for its protection.

This event was organized in cooperation with partner organization REC – Reconciliation Empowering Communities, within the IWRM-K program of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Government of Kosovo, implemented by Skat Consulting Ltd. (Switzerland) in consortium with the Environment Agency Austria (EAA).
