Public Call for Youth: Start Your Initiative for Clean Rivers



Within the project “Together for Clean Rivers,” organizations ACDC and REC invite young people from northern municipalities of Kosovo to submit their ideas and launch local initiatives aimed at environmental protection and river conservation.

The project is implemented with the goal of improving water resource management and strengthening cooperation between communities, through concrete actions and the involvement of youth in addressing environmental challenges.

Within the research component of the project, key problems on the ground have been identified:

  • more than 130 critical pollution points
  • 36 illegal dumpsites
  • 65 direct discharges into rivers
  • 20 barriers in watercourses
  • 10 sand extraction sites

These findings clearly indicate the need for concrete local solutions.

Eligibility criteria:

  • young people aged 18–30
  • from the following municipalities:
    • North and South Mitrovica
    • Zvečan
    • Zubin Potok
    • Leposavić

Applications can be submitted individually or as an informal group.

What kind of initiatives do we support?
We are looking for ideas that contribute to:

  • reducing river pollution
  • raising awareness in the community
  • protecting natural resources
  • activating local communities
  • innovative and sustainable solutions

Selected initiatives will receive:

  • financial and mentoring support
  • support in implementing their idea
  • visibility through the project’s media campaign
  • an opportunity to directly contribute to environmental protection
