Experience from the Youth Camps – An Unforgettable Experience I Would Love to Relive

Between February and May 2025, I had the privilege of participating in a series of youth camps aimed at building understanding and coexistence among different communities in Kosovo. Around 40 young people aged 13 to 18 took part in these camps, representing Albanian, Serbian, Bosniak, Gorani, and other communities. From the very beginning, I felt it would be a unique experience – and it truly was.

The first camp took place in Vermicë, near Prizren. The setting was peaceful and welcoming, and the camp lasted for three days. The organizers greeted us warmly and presented the program clearly and professionally. We started with simple introductory activities to get to know each other, followed by workshops designed to foster intercultural communication and introduce the basics of different languages, mainly Albanian and Serbian. We also visited the city of Prizren and its cultural landmarks.

The second camp was held a month later in Gračanica. During those three days, we not only got to know each other better, but also participated in more interactive activities such as games, language quizzes, and cultural visits. I was especially impressed by the creative way in which elements of culture and history were presented, including traditional tools and clothing.

Two weeks later, the third camp was held in Rugova, near Peja. There, we had the chance to enjoy a different atmosphere, surrounded by nature and mountain landscapes. In addition to the usual activities, we delved deeper into mutual understanding and the building of new friendships. We learned, played, danced, and spent many joyful moments that I will cherish for a long time.

The fourth and final camp took place in Prevallë, near Prizren. This trip was the perfect conclusion to the entire experience. We visited the stunning mountains of Prevalla, explored nature together, and took many photos. At the end, we had a small test to reflect on what we had learned during the camps, and each of us had the chance to give a farewell and thank-you speech.

This program was organized exceptionally well – every detail was thoughtfully planned, and everything worked in harmony. For me personally, this experience was far more than a series of trainings. It was a journey that taught me about tolerance, coexistence, communication, and the importance of being open to others. I made new friendships, experienced unique emotions, and feel truly enriched as a person. Without a doubt, I would love to take part in similar camps again. It was an unforgettable experience that I will always remember.
