Consultative Meeting on Amendments to the Anti-Discrimination Law

Prizren, June 18, 2024 — The NGO Advocacy Center for Democratic Culture (ACDC), in collaboration with The Office for Good Governance - Prime Minister's Office, organized a consultative meeting at Hotel Premium Park, Prizren, to discuss amendments to the Anti-Discrimination Law, focusing on aligning the proposed amendments with international human rights standards, particularly regarding the protection of vulnerable groups and minority communities from discrimination.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Habit Hajredini, Director of the Office for Good Governance, Mr. Muhamet Vokrri, legal expert on the amendments, and representatives of institutions and CSOs from Prizren.

Participants, including representatives from various institutions, NGOs, and community members, raised key issues such as the protection of minority communities, healthcare and employment discrimination against Roma women, the role of education in combating discrimination, and effective law implementation and awareness campaigns.

In conclusion, Mr. Vokrri assured that participants' feedback would shape the final draft of the law, while Mr. Hajredini emphasized ongoing communication to ensure the law's effectiveness in protecting vulnerable groups and ensuring equal treatment for all citizens.

The aim of the law is prevention and fight against discrimination, as well as improvement of human rights and equal opportunities for all citizens of Kosovo.
