Over the months of October and November, students, volunteers, local artists and community members worked together to promote environmental protection along the Ibar River.

The initiative included:

  • Two youth training sessions with students from local universities and high schools on environmental protection, public health, and community engagement.
  • Two clean-up actions along the Ibar River and nearby green areas, involving more than 40 young volunteers.
  • Creation of an environmental sculpture, built together with local artists using waste collected during the clean-up actions.
  • Restoration of three public drinking water fountains in North Mitrovica, improving access to clean water for the community.

Through education, civic action, art and practical improvements, the project empowered young people to take an active role in protecting the environment. The sculpture, the restored fountains, and the efforts of local youth now stand as a reminder that caring for the Ibar means caring for our shared future.

Watch the short video “Silence” to see how the collected waste transforms into an ecological sculpture that speaks through silence.
