Project “Together for Clean Rivers” Presented
North Mitrovica, 29 August 2025 – Today, at the EU Info House in North Mitrovica, the project “Together for Clean Rivers” was presented, jointly implemented by NGOs ACDC and REC, with the support of the Integrated Water Resources Management Program in Kosovo (IWRM-K), the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), and the Government of Kosovo. The project is implemented by Skat Consulting Ltd. (Switzerland) in consortium with the Austrian Environment Agency (EAA).
The project was presented by Stefan Kalaba from NGO ACDC, who highlighted the importance of this initiative for improving water resources and strengthening multiethnic cooperation in the northern municipalities of Kosovo.
The discussion also featured Ljubiša Mijačić, external expert and researcher, and Faruk Mujka, General Director of the Public Enterprise Ibër-Lepenc. They emphasized the importance of identifying polluters, protecting rivers, engaging youth and local communities in environmental protection, and the need for joint care among all communities.
Project Objectives
The project “Together for Clean Rivers” aims to preserve and improve the quality of water resources, identify sources of pollution, and develop recommendations for ecosystem protection. In addition to research activities and the creation of a Pollution Cadaster, workshops and eco-actions are planned to involve citizens and youth in the active protection of rivers.
