M4Y Municipalities for Youth - Empowering Youth through Civic Engagement

Background
The M4Y project is an USS 2.79 million grant from the Japan Social Development Fund (JSDF) administered by the World Bank.
It is focused on increasing socioeconomic opportunities for marginalized youth, aged 15 to 24 across 10 municipalities in Kosovo.
The project is designed to respond to the growing youth disenfranchisement that has been an important driver of outmigration, political dissatisfaction, and radicalization.
Key elements
The M4Y project will enable selected municipalities to address youth socioeconomic needs through targeted initiatives and services while strengthening the cooperation between youth and local governments.
Participating youth will be trained to identify, design and implement solutions that reflect young people's local priorities.
Youth will gain work experience through volunteerism and municipality placements.
Objectives
Improve the socioeconomic inclusion of at least 3,000 marginalized youth in vulnerable communities in Kosovo, through youth-driven civic engagement and skills building activities.
Provide demand-driven youth services at the local level.
Give youth opportunities to develop and demonstrate soft/employability skills.
Project is financed by Government of Japan through the support received under the Japan Social Development Fund administrated by World Bank
