NGO ACDC - Consequences of Judiciary Integration Delay - Status and Perspectives

The project is being implemented by "Advocacy Center for Democratic Culture" - ACDC in partnership with "Kontakt plus Radio", with financial support of "Kosovo Foundation for Open Society" - KFOS. The overall objective of the project is the involvement of citizens in decision-making through advocacy activities and proactive journalism in connection with the implementation of the agreement between Belgrade and Pristina on the integration of the judiciary.

The overall objective of the project is the involvement of citizens in decision-making through advocacy activities and proactive journalism in connection with the implementation of the agreement between Belgrade and Pristina on the integration of the judiciary.

 

The specific objectives are:

1. Research on the reasons for the delay of completion of integration of the judiciary and the consequences of integration delay on citizens' rights;

2. Raising awareness of representatives of relevant institutions about the importance of the completion of the judiciary integration process, through advocacy activities;

3. Increase awareness and knowledge of citizens about the right to access to justice and the existing judicial institutions of Kosovo;

4. Strengthening the role of media in monitoring and informing citizens about the integration of the judiciary, with a special focus on the current state and perspective of forming an integrated judiciary in northern Kosovo;

5. Improvement of cooperation between civil society and media in timely reporting to citizens about the justice system and their rights before judicial institutions.

 

The results we want to achieve by this project are:

- Identified reasons for the delay of completion the integration and the consequences of delay integration on the rights of citizens;

- Developed and presented policy paper;

- Representatives of relevant institutions will be informed about the consequences of integration delay through advocacy activities;

- Improved awareness and knowledge of citizens about the right to access to justice;

- Strengthened role of media in the judiciary integration process;

- Strengthened cooperation between civil society organizations and media.

 

Target groups of the project are: judges and prosecutors in the process of integration, representatives of Kosovo judicial institutions in Mitrovica region, Civil Society Organizations, academics, media, and the citizens in the north.

The project will cover all four municipalities in northern Kosovo: North Mitrovica, Zvecan, Zubin Potok, and Leposavic, as well as Mitrovica South.

Implementation of the project began on April 5 and ends on 20 September 2017.
