Building Trust Through Human Rights-Phase II

It promotes inclusive dialogue with civil society, enhances transparency, and enables citizens to actively participate in decision-making processes, thereby reducing tensions and strengthening the rule of law in northern and other parts of Kosovo.

Main Activities

• Organization of the Cooperation Forum between the Ombudsperson Institution and civil society organizations.
• Organization of public discussions, round tables and community dialogues on current human rights issues across Kosovo.
• Cooperation with the Ombudsperson Institution, Office for Good Governance and other public institutions on human rights-related activities.
• Independent monitoring visits to detention and correctional facilities to assess conditions and identify potential human rights concerns.
• Implementation of the “Young Human Rights Advocates” training programme for young people from Serbian and other non-majority communities.
• Support for greater cooperation between Communities Committees, municipal authorities, central institutions and civil society organizations.

Expected Results

• Improved cooperation and dialogue between human rights institutions, civil society and local communities.
• Increased awareness and access to human rights protection mechanisms.
• Stronger institutional responsiveness to the concerns and needs of local communities, particularly non-majority communities.
• Improved oversight of detention conditions and strengthened prevention of potential human rights violations.
• Young people equipped with practical knowledge and skills to promote and advocate for human rights.
• Strengthened capacity of Communities Committees to represent community interests and participate in local decision-making.
• Increased participation of local communities and civil society in human rights discussions and advocacy.
