On the occasion of International Migrants Day, which is observed every year on December 18, we would like to emphasize that refugees and migrants are among the social groups that are in practice most frequently excluded from the human rights protection system, while their access to justice and various protection mechanisms is practically impossible in many cases. Refugee and migrant children unaccompanied by parents or guardians are in the most difficult position.
Poverty, violence, armed conflicts, persecution, as well as governments that do not recognize the fundamentals of respect for human rights are just some of the generators of deep inequalities that consequently lead to large-scale migrations and emigration. Thousands of refugees and migrants die or become victims of extreme human rights violations while migrating. As a result of violating fundamental human freedoms, a significant number of migrants who leave their countries of origin in despair lose not only their home but also their human dignity, and very often even their bare lives.
Solidarity is our responsibility, let's treat people like people!
