ACDC, in cooperation with the OSCE Mission in Kosovo, presented a publication on the index of reform of municipal transparency.

Results of monitoring of the work of four local self-governments in northern Kosovo and assessment of the transparency of operations of municipal bodies were presented.

The Executive Director of the Center for the Advocacy of Democratic Culture Dusan Radakovic says this is the first time that an NGO in the north is dealing with the transparency and in general the integrity of newly formed municipalities in northern Kosovo. The report is somewhat negative, in the first place because municipalities do not have websites in the Kosovo system.

UK Ambassador to Pristina, Rori O'Connell, said that citizens must be aware that every decision of a local government is made on their behalf and that they have the right to know what decisions they made, what they are and why they are made, and the mechanism of transparency gives them the power to do it right.

The head of the OSCE Mission to Kosovo, Jan Braathu, says the bill is about the transparency of municipal work, the situation is not so bad, but that there is always room for improvement.

"Transparency is a process of engagement in which all factors must be involved. The OSCE will continue to support municipal administrations to develop management capacities in the financial, resource and management sphere," Braathu said.
