NGOs ACDC and REC are pleased to announce the inception of a new project aimed at fostering reconciliation and trust-building between Kosovo Serb and Kosovo Albanian students in North and South Mitrovica. This project will tackle the issues of the youth from majority and non-majority communities
The project will involve a diverse group of people, young people and students, civil society organizations, and media, with the overarching goal of promoting cooperation across ethnic lines, especially among the younger population.
The overall objective is to foster the reconciliation process in Kosovo through facilitating and supporting youth/student cooperation across ethnic lines.
Specific Objectives are
Objective 1: To measure through research a public perception on youth/student cooperation across ethnic lines.
Objective 2: To create synergy, through public conferences, among relevant stakeholders to further facilitate and strengthen the reconciliation process through youth cooperation.
Objective 3: To foster reconciliation and cooperation through visits to cultural and religious sites in Kosovo.
Cooperation between Kosovo Albanian and Kosovo Serbian students is identified as a pressing need in northern Kosovo. This collaboration is essential for supporting the reconciliation and trust-building process, particularly given the separate educational systems. The project aims to bridge these gaps by fostering knowledge exchange and practical cooperation, providing valuable opportunities for students from both communities.
This is to be achieved with partner collaboration between NGOs ACDC and REC which will ensure the ethnic diversity of the activities, and support the entire process.
The project is scheduled to last eight months, with activities taking place in both North and South Mitrovica.
This project is financed with the contribution of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic
